The internet is full of "best nomad cities" lists scraped from blog posts written years ago. Most never get updated. We took a different approach: we picked a small set of cities where the nomad community is real, the cost-of-living data is grounded in 2025–2026 prices, and the visa pathway is actually usable.
Every city on this page meets four criteria: an active English-speaking remote-work community with regular meetups; reliable fiber or strong 5G coverage (50 Mbps+ in most neighborhoods); a long-stay visa option or generous visa-free access for most passports; and a quality-of-life baseline — safety, healthcare, walkability, and weather — that makes a 3-to-12-month stay realistic.
We deliberately kept the list short. Featuring 200 cities helps no one decide. Featuring 10 that we can keep accurate, with up-to-date prices and live weather, helps you pick the right next destination in an afternoon.
We're adding 30 more cities in the coming weeks — Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Tokyo, Porto, Tallinn, and more. Get notified when your favorite city goes live.
We hand-pick destinations with active digital nomad communities, reliable internet (50 Mbps+), affordable cost of living for remote workers, accessible visa pathways, and strong quality-of-life signals. Each city is reviewed by people who have lived or worked there.
Yes — every featured city is in a country that offers either a dedicated digital nomad visa, a long-stay residency option, or generous visa-free access for most Western passports. We link the relevant visa on each city page.
Cost figures are estimates for a single remote worker living comfortably (private 1BR apartment, eating out a few times per week, coworking membership). We refresh data quarterly using Numbeo, Nomad List, and on-the-ground community reports.
In most cases yes — either through a digital nomad visa, a freelance/self-employment visa, or simply on a tourist visa for short stays. Always check the visa requirements for your nationality before booking long-term accommodation.
